The range
Projects run from a single track to a full EP or album. Lenny arranges, produces, records and, in most cases, mixes, and plays most of the instruments himself: percussion, keyboards, guitars and synths. Players on qanun, ney, violin and other regional instruments join where the music calls for them. The work happens in the Jaffa studio or remotely: send the session, and the live parts come back recorded, edited and ready to mix.
The studio
The LennyTunes Studio sits in old Jaffa, a few streets from the sea, among old spice and sweet shops, in the quarter where Jaffa’s belly-dance and dance-music clubs stood through the 1960s and 70s, and where wedding debka and pop music still carry down the streets. Inside, the working collection runs from a Pultec EQ, a Roland SH-1000 and a 1960 Fender Jazzmaster to tape and cassette machines, quarter-tone keyboards and instruments from across the Middle East and North Africa.
